Searching for resources to support math instruction and activities can take hours of your precious time. With TenMarks Math, you can use our assignments, assessments, fluency practice, easy differentiation, and real-time interventions when it works best for you and your students. Here are 6 ideas from expert educators to use TenMarks Math in your classroom today:
Use TenMarks Math as an Intervention Tool
I use TenMarks Math assessments as a tool to monitor students’ progress on the skills identified as being focus standards for students. I issue a pre-assessment on one to two standards at a time. The recommendations in TenMarks Math then help to determine what students need to work on to help them master each focus standard. It’s during these recommended assignments that I take the time to work either individually with students or as a larger group. We work through problems in TenMarks Math together, discussing vocabulary and processes. Depending on what the assignment is addressing, we utilize manipulatives or use visuals to help students better understand the skill. (Katie Kayastha, Math Interventionist, IL) Read on>>>
Use TenMarks Math for Individual Practice
I really like giving students personal work in TenMarks Math because every student can work on what he or she needs, but it looks the same from one student's screen to the next. So, everyone has differentiated work while at the same time, reinforcing the idea I try to pass on to them -- anyone can achieve in math. (Karen Henderson, High School Math Teacher, KS)
Use TenMarks Math During Centers or Stations
In most elementary classrooms, Math Centers are a staple, yet developing efficient and effective Math Centers can require a tremendous amount of planning. Using TenMarks Math during Centers allows students to practice a variety of skills while limiting planning for teachers. TenMarks Math can support the following Center activities: individual work, partner/group work, practice through jam session competitions, and small group teacher instruction. Use TenMarks Math for an Extra Challenge
Students are exposed to a lot of different types of questions and different rigor of questions. Even if I don’t get to cover every single question type, with TenMarks Math, I know they will be challenged with different types of questions. I also like the fact that there are hints and videos that they can use to help them out even when I’m not there. If they’re home and they’re struggling, they can always try to use one of these resources to help them answer the question. (Gisela Martinez, Grade 8 Teacher, NY)
Use TenMarks Math to Build Fluency
I held contests with Jam Sessions. The students absolutely loved this! I set the timer and allowed the students to pick a math concept. The students then completed as many problems as they could within the allotted time. The students were rewarded based on how many questions they answered correctly within the allotted time. Use TenMarks Math to Support Blended Learning
In a Blended Learning classroom, students work at their own pace without knowing that they may be working on different work than their peers. In this environment, I use a wide variety of tools in my classroom across subject and content areas. TenMarks Math fits nicely in this approach. I love the exposure the students get when questions are asked in different ways and the embedded supports, like hints or videos, students can access they are struggling.
